Starting shortly after Easter Bridget and I will be touring the UK, delivering talks about our world travel adventure. Entitled ‘An Evening with Miss Bridget’ the talk lasts about two hours with a comfort break halfway through. The itinerary currently is as follows:
- Abingdon - 9th April
- Loughborough - 14th April
- Bedford - 16th April
- Godstone - 19th April
- Norwich - 20th April
- Lincolnshire - 22nd April
- Yorkshire - 24th April
- West Auckland - 28th April
- Scottish Borders - 30th April
- Caledonian - 9th May
- North West - 11th May
- Bromsgrove - 12th May
- Abingdon - 14th May
There may be additional venues added before the start and updates will be displayed here. The tour is being promoted by the MGCC, but is open to anyone wishing to attend. E-mail roy.locock@btinternet.com for further details.
Preparing Bridget for the tour is now a priority. She needs a new windscreen, the twin SU’s need rebuilding, replacement mirrors and window winders are required and the interior needs renovating. I have a replacement windscreen glass, kindly donated by Mike Authers of Abingdon. Mike restores and sells MG Midgets for a living, and has for the past twenty years.
It’s amazing how one can pass hours of fun on a Sunday afternoon dismantling and rebuilding SU carburettors, dismantling and rebuilding, and dismantling and rebuilding. Then you discover the reason it isn’t right is that the supplier has given you two different length jets and not a matched pair. Don’t you just love ‘em!

Hey Roy and Bridget, Belated Happy New Year, and glad to hear that you are on the road again soon. Any plans to visit Kent? We have friends in and around Maidstone/Sevenoaks who would be interested in your story.
David is in the garage as I write, removing the final bits of chrome and other trim from Polly before she goes for some minor restoration and a respray - blue, of course - while we escape the frozen north for a couple of weeks road trip around south Florida. It will be at least two months before we can even think about driving Polly again - but that gives David lots of time to buy all the new bits he’s discovered she needs, and put all that trim back on!
Happy MG-ing!
Trish
PS - when’s the book coming out!!
Hi Trish and Polly, thanks and I will answer directly. - Roy

Great to hear that you are “on the move” again, although not far from home this time. Memories of this time last year in Australia..floods, floods & more floods at present.
Like Trish asks….when do we order the book?
Gary & Anita
Hi Gary and Anita, good to hear from you. After the UK tour is finished I am going ‘walkabout’ through Norway, Finland, Russia and a few other countries. I will post a journal here as I go. No news on the book yet, still trying to get a publisher. I’ll keep you posted. Happy motoring. - Roy

Hi Roy, Just thought I would check to see if you made it home from your trip alright. I own the gas station in Kenora Ontario that you stopped at in the summer. Looks like your trip went well, good for you. Hope you and bridget have many more happy miles together.
Carlton
Hi Carlton, nice of you to think of me. Although I stopped at numerous gas stations, I do remember you. We will be on the road again shortly but only around Europe and Russia this year. Take care and best wishes. - Roy
